My pretty granddaughter, Andrea Krystel, aged 15, who is now in Singapore, has been a constant achiever in academic excellence in school. Recently, she got not only an ace, but won as first place, in her school competition in poetry writing and delivery. She beat her grandma, because she started becoming a writer/poet and this winner, now that she's only, in her second year of high school. I am proud to post here the verse she created about bullying, which won her said award...

ON BULLYING

I cry myself to sleep at night
Just hoping it would stop.
Perhaps tomorrow it will cease
Then again, maybe not.

You pushed me and you poked me.
You called me hurtful names.
To me it's like a prison,
To you it's fun and games.

Your heart is as cold as ice
But it doesn't even deserve that.
Mine was once colorful,
But you have moulded it to darkest black.

I hate you, I hate everyone.
No one could be trusted.
Are you proud of what you've done?
You've turned my soul into dust.

If there was a door I could open
A simple path I could tread.
I don't want to be stuck here forever,
In this endless spiral of dread.

Jane, actually, High School was the best time of my student life..I was very creative, more articulate and eloquent, as well as artistic at that time...I guess, it's true with your granddaugher as well....

i didn't have my talents then yet...i was just the bubbly extrovert everyone loved, leading and organizing most times the soirees, the get-togethers, parties and everything that would make us girls, meet the boys...high school at ust was morning for the girls and afternoon for the boys...so we don't get to talk with our counterparts, only when it's time for us to go home and these boys are lined up waiting to get into the building, as we leave...lol!

but i will confirm what you said high school days are best, in fact more fun and fuller in excitements...

Great achievement! More power to her!

My high schools days were boring. The only fun was whistling at Maryknollers in Lucena City

When I was 19, already grown,
I still had elementary level vocab limit,
and couldn't even come up with a single stanza.

As for wines, my friend, we all want it old. The older, the better.

i had discovered my talent, only when i got into this site...like how i declared it, in one of your blogs...a great deal of inspiration or this emotion needed to be unloaded, can and is always behind any verse created..

thank you tess, my grandchildren are my consolation in this life...

and lemme tell you, she was the one most vocal who reacted to my recent break-up with rene (they met and all my grandchildren did)...she said o'jane doesn't need a boyfriend, she has "us," her grandchildren, loving her much! and that brought me a curtain of emotions, it left me in many tears...

thanks joseph, i was thinking maybe that is why singapore is a well disciplined country, because discipline and strong children values are inculcated early in their educational system...

kiddie sis, appreciate your kind words...only recently did i learn from sarah that my grand daughter andrea had really this bullying problem school during her elementary days here in the philippines, so everything she wrote above the verse her real live experiences...she has proven being smart and with this strength to overcome everything now, by being an excellent student free from being bullied...

btw, love the pastillas you gave me yesterday...the peanuts, butong pakwan, chicharon and sweet beans were superb...thanks for buying them for me..love them too!

enjoy your weekend! muah! muah!

That's what I'm learning right now about how to deal with bullying in school.

Congrats to you and your hardworking apo. She'll hone it in years to come.

Like Miss Elz, High school for me was the best time for creativity in arts and imaginative writing including making stories and editing them in my sleep.
