And Then There Were 7: The 2nd FFF Cebu EB 2012 May 6, 2012 7:16 am
212 Views
On Mayo de Cinco afternoon at Ayala Centre Cebu, Lavender, Charmz, Snowbelle, I, and Jas met and introduced ourselves to each other.

Lavender and I arrived first, so we got a head start in talking to each other. Then the others came one after the other. Instead of heading right to Red Box karaoke, we decided to have dinner first at Sunburst. The delicious smell of frying chicken wafted through the air and tempted our (mine in particular ) appetites!

We placed our orders and talked...and talked... and talked But we were considerate of the only "rose" amongst the thorns (he even wore red!) and talked to him about things he can entirely relate to..Like his affair with water As him about that if you want to know more

While chatting away during dinner, Lisa and the daughter of Lavender came to join us. We continued talking and engaged the new arrival as well.

We decided to go to the more economical Song Hits on Mango Avenue, so we can have more hours of fun without having to pay a lot for the karaoke entertainment. So, we rode a jeepney from Ayala, and booked ourselves at SOng Hits at 8pm.

We sang, danced, did dares, and laughed our way through 2 hours of karaoke. Charmz showed us what she is made of and taught us a lesson or two about the right way to dance And was she ever the fabulous life of our little party! Her student, Snowbelle, was made to show what she has learned from the dance mistress by sampling some moves on Jas I tell, you, Jas broke out in a sweat!

We quit Songhits at about 10pm, since Lavender and I had to be home early. We only had to pay about P50 each! And we already had a looot of fun and laughs We talked about doing a dance EB next time once we can set aside enough time to "morning the night"

All in all, it was a fantastically fun and successful Cebu EB. We improved from the previous attendance of 3, to 7! Yipeeee **clap clap clap**. Too bad Optimus wasn't able to join us. He had a date with the "butandings" south of Cebu

We hope more Cebu FFF members can join us next time, though. Looking forward to see you on our next EB! Just keep yourselves posted on when the next one is

Hope you have had a happy weekend, friends!

His voice is beautiful, just perfect.

His love is amazing, it envelopes me completely.

His heart is a wonder to behold, it electrifies and enlivens me.

He chased away the doubts, removed the fears.

Today, I suddenly missed my dear Lola.

I felt she was conspiring to bring me the man meant for me because of certain events that recently happened to me.

And then, I felt overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude upon realising how things are unfolding.

Lola, thank you for looking after me. I know you have been pestering me about getting married when you were still alive. Now, you finally have more opportunities to help make that happen.

Please help me...Us.

How was your week so far, friends? God bless us all!

I believe I have fallen in love.

Too early to tell, I know. But that's what my heart has been saying. And I care a lot about this person.

I do hope I hold my horses and let things take its due course, though.

He says we're official And so I've decided to keep myself scarce in FFF, if only not to cause complications. I think I won't be organising EBs anymore too, after this last one But, I will miss the friendships I've cultivated with a few good people here. I will still be in blogland though.

How was your weekend, friends? I hope you had a lovely one like mine (or more lovelier than the one I had!)! God bless us all!

P.S. If you're asking who he is, I'll just show you a pic of us two later when we do finally get one done

A Very Beautiful Song from Miss Saigon Apr 21, 2012 7:40 am

This is sung by Kim, the heroine of the story, and her lover, the main male protagonist...

[KIM]
You are sunlight and I moon
Joined by the gods of fortune
Midnight and high noon
Sharing the sky
We have been blessed, you and I

[CHRIS]
You are here like a mystery
I'm from a world that's so different
From all that you are
How in the light of one night
Did we come so far?

[KIM]
Outside day starts to dawn

[CHRIS]
Your moon still floats on high

[KIM]
The birds awake

[CHRIS]
The stars shine too

[KIM]
My hands still shake

[CHRIS]
I reach for you

[BOTH]
And we meet in the sky!

[KIM]
You are sunlight and I moon
Joined here
Bright'ning the sky
With the flame
Of love

[BOTH]
Made of
Sunlight
Moonlight

That women will tend to be the superior partner in a relationship But not let the man know that she is

I've read this article where the guy mentioned that he was looking for someone smarter and funnier than he, and he found such a lady, and became his wife. They have a good marriage.

It made me ponder.

I also read of actual couples being interviewed, with the man saying the woman helped him become a better person and learned to shape up because of the woman's encouragement and guidance. their marriages went well too.

So, it really can be like that then, and it can happen quite often. That the woman was the more "mature" one in the relationship.

I thought that it would be nice to be with a man smarter than I. But with the things I have read, I might have to reconsider It is possible that one's good match is not necessarily better than you. The key there is that the man should complement you well. But, different strokes for different folks.

How bout you friends, what are your takes on this?

For the men, have you been with women who you think are the ones who guided you to be better men?

For the women, have you been with men who you had to push a bit in order to improve? Or were your men ok as they are already?

The Heat is On.. in Saigon Apr 18, 2012 9:15 am

Last Monday, I was told I was one of the top 10 auditionees considered for the local staging of the Miss Saigon (musical) and that I need to sing "Sun and Moon" (my favourite!) and "Last Night of the World" as a final audition at 2 pm Wednesday.. today.

I decided not to go. Cause I couldn't just abandon my work to pursue something that's very hazy. And it was too short a notice anyway. Not enough time to get a leave. One told me it was kinda a waste cause I was amongst the top 10 for consideration for the lead roles.

In the end, the people behind the production decided that I be part of the ensemble (the people in the background, so to say). So, I was happy that I'm still part of the musical despite my absence. Knowing the temper of the director, I'm thinking that heads will roll during rehearsal and there may be repositionings happening

I am thankful tho that the Lord found a way for me to be in the play without having to be at the forefront in a bikini and kissing a stranger multiple times on stage and having to act out a suicide scene

After Miss Saigon comes Phantom of the Opera. Now thats one play I prefer though But for now, Miss Saigon it is. Rehearsals begin next month so we'll see what happens.

The heat is on.. in Saigon!

Have a nice week, friends!

I felt humbled and blessed today.

I felt the Lord's love and mercy radiating upon me.

I felt it through someone I (re)connected with today

I pray I be given the courage to move forward and to receive this blessing with both hands outstretched an open, not minding what will happen next. Not minding whether hurt will come and plague me again.

I will take risks, and I will go out on a limb. For this is my dream. And it seems it is drawing nearer and nearer my fingers.

So help me God. Amen.

Have a great weekend, friends!

Audition Saturday Apr 14, 2012 9:04 am

I heard about an audition for the musical The Phantom of the Opera and it was scheduled to happen this very weekend.

I went, without practicing "All I Ask of You" properly (did a couple of runs only an hour before auditioning lol).

It turns out auditionees can sing any song and in a cappella too... And I learned that I had to show whether I have dancing skills!

I ended up singing a classical song ("operatic", as others would call it) two times to two different people, and danced to a hip hop tune and, to fast forward things, got accepted. I PASSED!

Too bad I didn't take a photo of the occasion Well, I'll be back to see the director and my fellow successful auditionees this Wednesday and receive the role that will be assigned to me. It turns out that the director is doing multiple plays: THe Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, The Lion King, Hercules, and one other play I forgot.

I think there will be a national staging/touring of the musicals. It's quite an ambitious project and I guess there will be foreign funding or something, cause there's this foreign guy sitting in the audition process.

I'm kinda nervous cause the director, who has won a prestigious award in my country and is known for his "Godzilla" tempers, has hinted about maybe not putting me in Miss Saigon cause he thinks I might not be up to wearing a bikini.

That's right.. A BIKINI!

I have watched the international staging of Miss Saigon in the Philippines more than 10 years ago (starring the original Kim, Ms Lea Salonga..but only during the first few performances did she appear lol...the rest were starred by other Broadway Filipina actresses who are also superb). And watching it, I realised that the heroine, Kim, is topless at one point in the musical... but she has her back to the audience And it only lasted a few seconds And there are a couple of minutes where she and other girls are in bikinis because they were portraying prostitutes a brothel in Vietnam, during the Vietnam war years where a lot of GI Joes trolled the place.

So, if in case I'm getting the part of Kim (there are other female parts tho), that means I will be doing those scenes and wearing something skimpy. OMG.

I just told the director, "Well then, I'd just have to be really buff!" And he pondered a bit on what I said

I love the music/soundtrack of Miss Saigon, but I don't enjoy traipsing around in a bikini on stage, which I have never ever worn even once in my entire life! Well, the skimpy episodes are just about 25% of the whole musical, but still. Oh well, I leave the whole thing up to God! I'm hoping to receive a role that does not make me do a 180 degree degree turn, though, whatever the surprise involved may be What happens, happens.

Aside from getting to know other people and learning of their (hi)stories, I also got to admire seeing really good-looking ones and hearing the superb talent of others. I even met this guy who, I swear, looks sooo much like Orlando Bloom! OMG. And he had a terrific voice too (and he's around my age and is a practicing dentist). But, I'm suspecting that maybe.. he's gay (or bisexual) WIth looks like that, I bet gay people couldn't stay away and keep their claws on him (girls included). But he seems really down to earth, genuine and not affected by the "moody/haughty artist" air that plagues seasoned theater performers. Well, this was his first time auditioning for a musical since he was in sixth grade.

So now, I await for Wednesday with much eagerness and optimism Just when I was bemoaning and grieving over my past love, music/singing, I suddenly have this opportunity fall onto my lap. We will see how and where it goes from here

But, don't expect me to stop running! My former voice teacher even prescribed jogging for me since it helps build my breath-holding capacity Teacher, I think I overdid the running bit tho!

How was your weekend so far, friends? Make things happen and seize the day (carpe diem)! You have the power to make everyday new and special..It's all in the choices you make every step of the way

A Giddy Friday Night Apr 13, 2012 12:01 pm

Finally! After 2 weeks, I saw my Mr Holding Hands (aka my Team Captain of a relay race competition held 2 weeks ago) and spent some hours talking with him Well, we had our conversation while in the midst of fellow runners in our group, of course!

I found it amusing that I mustered the guts to poke fun at myself by making jokes and comments that pointed to how I enjoyed running holding his hand and I like to be where he goes **gulp gulp gulp!** It takes me a lot of nerve to say things like these to someone I really really like And he was a good sport and even kinda played along to it too Awwww.. Be still my heart! Well, this is the time for me to exercise confidence and practice not being ashamed of my feelings and be cool about it

I just learned that he has experienced running and completing a 100 km ultramarathon last year. Woah!

I hope I can see him again.. soon That's what I'm looking forward to on the weekend and in the coming days.. How about you, friends?

God bless you all!
